What's in the Brass Attachment Set (And How to Put It All Together)

Our brass attachment set is one of those things that looks a little intimidating at first — there are a few pieces, and it's not always obvious what goes where. But once you know the logic, it genuinely takes less than two minutes to set up.

This post breaks down every piece in the set, what it does, and exactly how to connect it all together. Let's go.

What's in the Box

Your brass attachment set includes four pieces:

  1. Tap attachment (x3 sizes) — connects to your outdoor tap
  2. Tap to hose connector — the clear-through piece that sits between the tap attachment and your hose
  3. Water stop valve connector — the solid piece that sits between your hose and the nozzle
  4. Nozzle — the spray end, opened and closed by twisting

Step 1: Choose the Right Tap Attachment

This is the piece that screws onto your outdoor tap — and the good news is the set covers all three standard Australian tap sizes.

Here's how to figure out which size you need:

  • 1 inch tap? Use the larger tap attachment as-is.
  • ¾ inch tap? Use the smaller tap attachment with the top piece removed.
  • ½ inch tap? Use the smaller tap attachment with the top piece left in.

Not sure what size your tap is? Most standard Australian garden taps are ¾ inch — so if in doubt, start there.

Step 2: Attach the Tap to Hose Connector

Once your tap attachment is in place, connect the tap to hose connector. This is the piece you can see straight through — it's essentially the bridge between your tap and the hose.

Placement: tap attachment → tap to hose connector → hose (tap end).

Screw it on firmly by hand — no tools needed. If it feels like it's cross-threading, back it off and start again slowly.

Step 3: Attach the Water Stop Valve Connector

The water stop valve connector goes on the other end of the hose — between the hose and the nozzle. Unlike the tap to hose connector, you cannot see through this one. It has a valve inside that stops water flowing when you disconnect the nozzle.

Placement: hose (nozzle end) → water stop valve connector → nozzle.

A handy trick: if you ever want to swap out the nozzle while the water is running (to add a different attachment, for example), the water stop valve means water won't gush out everywhere when you disconnect. Very useful.

Step 4: Attach the Nozzle

The nozzle screws onto the water stop valve connector. To use it, simply twist the nozzle head to open and close the water flow — it's that easy. No buttons, no levers, just a smooth twist.

For a gentle shower spray, open it most of the way. For a more direct stream, open it slightly. Experiment to find your favourite setting for different tasks — watering delicate seedlings vs. giving your driveway a rinse, for example.
